ACE Unveils Menopause Education Course: Empowering Fitness Certification

Unleashing the Benefits of Exercise

It’s universally acknowledged that exercise has multiple benefits for the human body. The methods, however, do vary depending on an individual’s age, health, and fitness level. While it’s common knowledge that everyone gains from cardio and strength training, discerning the best workouts and exercises for specific individuals can be much debated.

A Dedicated Program for Menopausal Women

The American Council on Exercise (ACE), a national body that provides fitness certifications, has recently launched a specialized program. This program aims to educate exercise and health professionals on the specific needs of menopausal women, enabling them to provide better support.

Exercise and Menopause

With an increasing understanding of the importance of exercise for midlife women’s health, managing menopause symptoms has become a prime focus. The International Menopause Society, for instance, cites exercise as one of the key lifestyle pillars for managing any menopause symptoms. Experts at Flow Space have emphasized that personal trainers and fitness coaches should be an integral part of your menopause care team.

The Menopause Mentor Course

Sabrena Jo, the ACE’s senior director of science and education, has revealed that the Menopause Mentor course is designed to provide science-based education. It will enable health and exercise professionals to better serve women navigating menopause with confidence and care.

The Menopause Mentor course, designed by Irene McCormick, an exercise expert with expertise in menopausal health and fitness, will equip trainers with knowledge about the specific physiological, psychological, social and hormonal changes women face during menopause. It will also help them design exercises and coaching methods, considering these factors.

The course will provide strategies for designing safe, helpful fitness routines, along with tools for managing sleep, fitness, nutrition, and stress. It’s available online at the ACE’s website.
