Time to Upsize the Donation Barrel for Pet Food
The Ongoing ‘Fill The Pantry’ Campaign
The “Fill the Pantry” campaign that we’ve mentioned in previous updates continues to gain momentum. Your participation has been tremendous, and we would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who has made a contribution. If you haven’t yet participated, consider donating a bag of kibble or a can of pet food at Grocery Outlet, the Southshore Adoption Center, or the Fortman Shelter. With the ongoing need for pet food, every contribution is valuable.
A recent visit to Grocery Outlet revealed a nearly full donation barrel. It’s clear that we may need a bigger barrel soon!
A Brush with Artificial Intelligence
While discussing the need for a bigger barrel, a mention of Artificial Intelligence (AI) came up. If you’re wondering what AI has to do with pet food donations, you’re not alone. But when creativity meets technology, unexpected connections can emerge.
When creativity meets technology, unexpected connections can emerge. Here’s an example: a picture from a chat with someone named GPT. It may be hard to see the connection between pet food donations and catching a shark, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow and appreciate the humor.
Thanksgiving Decorations and More
As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the lack of festive yard decorations can be disappointing. However, a few finds have brought some cheer. Inflatable turkeys on Oak Street, a banner on Minturn Street, and beautiful magnolia blossoms signaling the arrival of fall have all been sighted. If you come across any outdoor Thanksgiving or general fall scenes, please email us at [email protected].
A sneak peek at Charlotte’s fall season installation was heartening. The exhibit at 1615 Chapin Street promises to be a sight to behold once it’s complete.
A Season in Full Swing
The fall season is in full swing with signs of ‘snow’ in Alameda as leaves cover the cars. The sight of leaves forming a mosaic on the sidewalk and street is nothing short of picturesque.
Art and Nature Collide
On a side note, the sidewalk artist has made a return. Their expressive artwork, located on Alameda Avenue near Grand Street, was short-lived as the rain washed it away. But it’s these fleeting moments that add charm to the season.
Lastly, a quick mention of something that can only be defined as an ‘obsession’. While digging up dead tomato vines, we came across another root from the black acacia tree that was cut down a few years ago. The fascination with these roots and the relentless effort to unearth them is quite a sight and a story for another day.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. And remember, your furry friends deserve some thanks (and treats) too!
