Boost Your Health: 4 New Gyms in Employee Discount Program

Like many others, Kendra Rosa was on the hunt for a new fitness regimen at the beginning of 2024. Based on a friend’s recommendation, she decided to try out a local gym near her home in northern Durham County.

Kendra, who serves as the Program Director for Duke’s NC-PAL, quickly became a regular at The BodyGames Center. She found immense value in the structured strength and conditioning classes, and particularly appreciated the supportive community that fostered her health and wellness journey.

“Carving out time for my health and well-being has been incredibly meaningful,” she shares. “The supportive and kind community at the gym enhances this experience and it feels great to be part of it.”

Joining Duke Fitness Club

Several months later, when the BodyGames Center became part of the Duke Fitness Club, Kendra was quick to register her membership through LIVE FOR LIFE, Duke’s employee wellness program. LIVE FOR LIFE simplifies the gym enrollment process and coordinates payroll deductions for membership fees.

Apart from The BodyGames Center, Duke Fitness Club has also added Clubworx in Fuquay-Varina, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in Durham, and two Durham locations of the Orangetheory Fitness franchise to its list of facilities, bringing the total number of facilities to fifteen. These facilities cater to around 5,000 people registered through Duke, according to LeAnna Johnson, the Fitness Manager of LIVE FOR LIFE.

Each of these fitness facilities offer discounted membership fees and are available to the staff and faculty of Duke University and Health System, retirees, their spouses or same-sex partners, and dependents.

Child Care and Zumba Classes at BodyGames

Kendra, a mother of two, finds the childcare services at BodyGames extremely helpful. These services allow her to attend classes without worrying about her children. She particularly enjoys the weekend Zumba classes, which she says brings her immense joy.

“Regular exercise has greatly improved my overall mental health and well-being,” Kendra adds. “I have thoroughly enjoyed it and it has become an integral part of my life, bringing about a significant change.”
