Exciting News From The NMU Swim and Dive Team

In a recent announcement from AUSTIN, Texas, the NMU swim and dive team members, Camilla Carbone and Zoe DeKievit, have earned their places in the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Second and Third Team, respectively. This remarkable achievement was released on Tuesday, solidifying their status in competitive collegiate swimming and diving.

Outstanding Academic Achievements In Collegiate Sports

Out of the 30 members honoured in the Academic All-America® Division II women’s swimming & diving teams, nine boast a flawless 4.0 GPA throughout their undergraduate or graduate studies. The first team’s ten members hold an impressive average GPA of 3.93.

Camilla Carbone’s Success Story

Graduate student Camilla Carbone has been a shining star in her academic and sporting career. Pursuing her MBA with a remarkable 4.00 GPA, Carbone recently added another feather to her cap with the CSC Academic All-District honours. This makes it her second consecutive second-team CSC Academic All-America honour. Carbone’s final season in the pool was particularly memorable, with consecutive CSC Academic All-America and All-District awards, a second GLIAC Commissioner’s Awards, and three All-America honours. Her commendable performances in the 100 backstroke and as a member of the 200 and 400 medley relay teams earned her these accolades. Moreover, Carbone was named a GLIAC champion, securing individual gold in the 100 back and a silver medal in the 400 medley relay.

Zoe DeKievit’s Inspiring Journey

Zoe DeKievit is not far behind with her inspiring achievements. A senior with a 4.00 GPA, majoring in Health and Fitness Education, DeKievit has earned her second consecutive third-team honour. This season, DeKievit has added CSC Academic All-America and All-District to her list of accomplishments. Her performances in the 200 and 400 medley relay earned her All-American status and a silver medal at this year’s conference championships.
