The Fresno Building Healthy Communities (Fresno BHC) has exciting news for you! They are set to breathe new life into Calwa Park, thanks to a generous grant from Prop 68. Calwa Park, a cherished recreation district since 1957, is about to undergo significant enhancements for the community to enjoy.

Fresno BHC kicked off the renovation process with a groundbreaking ceremony at Calwa Park. This event marked the beginning of an exciting journey to revamp this vital community space.

Prop 68 Funding for Calwa Park Renovation

The community has been informed that the renovation budget, amounting to $6.6 million, has been generously provided by Prop 68. This funding will go far in ensuring the park’s transformation is as robust as possible, resulting in a space that the community can take pride in.

You can look forward to myriad improvements in Calwa Park. The renovation project includes the construction of three new playgrounds, a walking loop, shaded picnic and BBQ areas, along with an outdoor fitness zone. Additionally, the park will also feature a brand new garden.

Don’t worry, existing favorites aren’t being left out. The current snack area, the iconic rocket ship sculpture, the thriving open market, and the park’s lighting and walkways are all slated for enhancements.
