Rescued Pig Finds a Forever Home in Time for Christmas
A pig that was discovered roaming the streets of Philadelphia has finally found his forever family, just in time for Christmas. According to rescuers, he’s now ready to live his best life.
Meet Snoop Hogg: From Street Pig to Family Pet
After a brief time as an “office pig,” Snoop Hogg was recently adopted and discovered his perfect life, as the Sanctuary at Haafsville announced on their Facebook page. “Today was bittersweet as we had to say goodbye to the best little piggy there ever was!” said the sanctuary.
The sanctuary decided to foster Snoop Hogg after finding him about a month ago at a Philadelphia animal shelter. It was there that the pig had been taken after being found wandering the city streets.
A Little Pig With a Big Story
“When I was at the shelter, looking at some dogs, I noticed the pig. I was hoping another rescue would step up since we’re not fully equipped for pigs here,” Jayne-Anne Bissell, a sanctuary dog care manager, told KYW-TV CBS. “No one was stepping up for him, as all pig rescues were full, so I decided to help him.”
The rescuers initially worried that the pig had been a bait for dog fighting rings, according to the sanctuary. Snoop Hogg was in a poor condition and had to be vaccinated, neutered, and treated for mange.
“He became our office pig and we worked on his harness and potty training. He’s doing great on both and loves everyone. He’s a bit picky with his dog friends but has a cat buddy he shares the office with,” the sanctuary posted.
Finding the Perfect Home for Snoop Hogg
The sanctuary made an online appeal for someone to adopt Snoop Hogg, who is 6 months old and could grow to weigh nearly 100 pounds. “Pigs are very intelligent and need companionship. He loves to snuggle under his blankets at night and enjoys long walks in the woods. Pigs are not for everyone. Be aware of what you are getting into,” they advised.
On Friday, the sanctuary shared the good news: Snoop Hogg found his forever home. Although the rescuers were sad to see him leave, they celebrated his adoption and new family, knowing he will have great adventures ahead.
“It was hard to say goodbye, but we know he’s in the best possible hands,” the sanctuary shared. “He will live indoors but will also have lots of fun playing outdoors in a huge backyard. From street pig to office pig to celebrity pig to a forever home pig. Snoop, we will miss you, but we’re glad we could be a part of your journey.”
