Teenager Faces Lengthy Prison Sentence for Murder

Penalty for Murder Charges
Originally charged as Joshua Cooper, 18-year-old Ash Cooper was given a 15 to 40-year sentence in a state prison on Thursday. This decision followed Cooper’s guilty plea to third-degree murder and other charges as stated by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.
Death of a Young Friend
Cooper confessed to shooting and killing her 12-year-old best friend, Morgan Connors, of Abington, at the Top of the Ridge Trailer Park on Gibson Road on Nov. 25, 2022. The two girls were known to be “best friends”, according to a report by the Courier Times.

The Court’s Verdict
Judge Jeffrey L. Finley of the Common Pleas sentenced Cooper to 15 to 40 years in state prison. Additionally, Cooper must abide by all rules and recommendations of adult probation and parole and undergo psychological and psychiatric evaluations.
Grieving a Lost Grandchild
During sentencing, an impact statement from the victim’s grandfather described the “intense pain and heartbreak” the family has experienced since losing Morgan Conners.
The Crime Unfolds
Local police received a 911 call about a possible homicide. The caller stated that her daughter had received a distressing Instagram video chat from Cooper.

During the video chat, Cooper stated that she had just killed someone. She then revealed a disturbing sight – the legs and feet of someone covered in blood. Cooper asked for help in disposing of the body, according to police reports.
Investigation and Arrest
When police inspected the property, they found a deceased juvenile female with a gunshot wound. Cooper, who had fled the scene, was later incarcerated at the Bucks County Juvenile Detention Center in Doylestown Township following her arrest.
