WVU Medicine Supports Growing Wellness Weekend Event
You may have heard about the Ogden Newspapers Wellness Weekend presented by WVU Medicine. The event has considerably grown over the last few years, much to the delight of WVU Medicine North Region President Douglass Harrison. He believes that the wellness event is gaining momentum every year and is gradually becoming a tradition that people eagerly anticipate.
Expectations for the Wellness Weekend
Organizers are eager to welcome thousands of participants and spectators to the wellness event scheduled for May 23-24 in downtown Wheeling. The weekend offers individuals of all ages and fitness levels, including pets, an opportunity to stay active. There is a variety of events to choose from that are suitable for everyone.
Registration and Participation
Registrations for the event’s activities, such as the Ogden Newspapers Half Marathon Classic, the Tough as Nails Urban Challenge presented by the Health Plan, the 5K Run and 5K Walk, both presented by Bordas & Bordas, are open now at ogdenwellnessweekend.com.
WVU Medicine’s Contribution to the Event
WVU Medicine’s participation extends beyond just being a sponsor. They contribute to the event’s website by featuring videos with their experts guiding participants through the preparation for the various races. In addition, they will be staffing the physical therapy tent during the race days to ensure participants are in top condition.
James Spanner, general manager of The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register, agrees with the profound impact WVU Medicine’s partnership has on the event. Both organizations care deeply about the Ohio Valley and are eager to see their neighbors happy and healthy. This wellness event is another opportunity to foster this sense of community.
