Political Group Targets Nebraska in $15 Million Ad Campaign Against Trump
The political advocacy group, “Home of the Brave” has launched a $15 million ad campaign opposing President Donald Trump, aiming to educate and mobilize citizens in Nebraska and 16 other states. Leveraging billboards and video ads, they’re highlighting the affordability crisis they attribute to Trump’s policies, including tariffs and the war in Iran.
Turning Hopelessness into Action
Sarah Matthews, spokesperson for “Home of the Brave” and former Trump’s deputy White House press secretary, has voiced the need for the public to express their concerns and urges lawmakers to push back on Trump. The campaign, dubbed “Sticker Shock Summer,” translates the impact of these policies into visceral price increases for everyday items like gas and groceries. The hope is to motivate the public to call their lawmakers and demand reform to lower prices.
From Supporter to Critic
Matthews, a self-proclaimed supporter of Trump during his first term, resigned on Jan. 6, 2021, the day the U.S. Capitol was stormed, due to Trump’s refusal to accept the 2020 Election results. “I hold conservative values near and dear. But I think that not many people nowadays are willing to call out Trump,” she said.
Resistance from Nebraska GOP
Nebraska GOP Chair Mary Jane Truemper criticized the ad campaign and labeled “Home of the Brave” as a left-wing, outside group. She maintained that Nebraskans align with the visible strength under Republican leadership rather than the influence of coastal activists.
Home of the Brave’s Funding
Being a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, “Home of the Brave” does not disclose its donor sources. While Matthews declined to comment on the organization’s donors, she mentioned it receives funding from “Americans across the country.” Ken Casey, a group advisory board member, also promotes independent U.S. senate candidate Dan Osborn.
