The Florida House Democratic Caucus announced Casello’s death in a social media post. Florida Democratic Party chairwoman, Nikki Fried, said he would be \”deeply missed.\”

A private ceremony will be in Massachusetts, Casello’s home state. A public memorial service will be announced soon. Casello was a firefighter for 33 years in Massachusetts before becoming a city commissioner in Boynton Beach in 2013. He was reelected to a fourth term in the state House last November.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will call a special election to fill Casello’s seat.
Casello was taken off life support on July 18, following chest pains and hospitalization two weeks prior, according to the Palm Beach Post reported.
State Rep. Mike Caruso visited Casello at the hospital. Casello had asked him to name a fire truck after him.
Casello’s life was about public service. He cherished representing the people as a firefighter and elected official.
