A man armed with a steak knife killed four family members, including two children, in Queens, New York City, before being killed by police. The New York City Police Department reported that a girl phoned to report the incident, stating her cousin was attacking her family members.
The 38-year-old suspect attacked two police officers who arrived at the scene. In response, one of the officers fatally shot the assailant. The suspect had previously been arrested for a domestic violence incident.
Victims of the stabbing included a 12-year-old boy, an 11-year-old girl, a woman aged 44, and a man in his 30s. A fifth victim, a 61-year-old woman, was critically injured and is in hospital. The assailant also set fire to a couch in the home’s living room, delaying the police’s entry until the fire department arrived.
