APSA invites proposals for a three-day virtual teaching and learning symposium in February 2024, led by Amy L. Atchison and Malliga Och. The theme is De-Centering the US in the Global Politics Classroom. The deadline for applications is January 7, 2024.
Symposium Goals
The symposium aims to build supportive relationships among participants, discuss class activities that de-center the US in Global Politics, and contribute teaching resources to APSA Educate. We encourage applications from faculty at all career stages and institutions, including universities and two- and four-year colleges, as well as advanced graduate students.
Virtual Symposium Schedule
- February 16 and 17: Individual presentations and discussion sessions
- February 17-22: small groups work on resources on their own time.
- February 22: a session to share group resources and provide feedback.
February 16 & 17 feature presentations by participants, followed by substantial group discussions.
February 17-22 is dedicated to developing educational resources individually or in teams, established based on participants’ interests.
February 22, groups present their new/revised resources and receive feedback. These resources will be made available through APSA Educate.
Application Details
Apply by January 7, 2024. Proposals should be submitted online and must include a recent CV, 250-word abstract summarizing the resource or topic for presentation, and 250-word description of your motivation and goals for participating.
