TL/DR –
Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone has publicly declared his support for President-elect Donald Trump, comparing him to the “second George Washington” and the character Rocky from his Oscar-winning film, as well as Jesus Christ. Stallone’s endorsement was made at the America First Policy Institute Gala at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. The gala is an annual event held by a far-right think-tank, founded in 2021, to raise funds to support Trump’s political agenda.
Sylvester Stallone Endorses Donald Trump as “Second George Washington”
Sylvester Stallone is the latest Hollywood star endorsing President-elect Donald Trump, lauding the 2024 election winner as the “second George Washington” at the America First Policy Institute Gala at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida last Thursday.
At the Palm Beach gala, Stallone likened Trump to his Oscar-winning film character Rocky and Jesus Christ prior to Trump’s stage appearance. The actor joined a growing list of celebrity Trump supporters, including Kelsey Grammer, Drea de Matteo, and Jack Paul, despite the majority of Hollywood endorsing Democrat Kamala Harris.
“We’re in the presence of a really mythical character,” Stallone told the crowd at Mar-a-Lago. “I love mythology. And this individual does not exist on this planet. Nobody in the world could have pulled off what he pulled off, so I’m in awe.”
Stallone drew a parallel between Trump and America’s founding father George Washington, suggesting both were key in shaping the world. “We got the second George Washington,” the 78-year-old actor declared.
His Trump-Jesus comparison recalled the opening of Rocky, featuring the title character under a portrait of Jesus, “a chosen person,” as Stallone described. “Something was gonna happen, this man was gonna go through a metamorphosis and change lives, just like President Trump,” he added.
Trump then entered the stage to share an extended handshake with the Tulsa King star.
The America First Policy Institute Gala, an annual event since 2021, raises funds to support Trump’s political agenda. The far-right think-tank has been described as the president-elect’s “White House in waiting,” proposing policy moves akin to the Heritage Institute’s controversial Project 2025.
