TL/DR –
The Trump administration has released plans for a 250ft tall “Arc de Trump” to be installed at the foot of the Arlington Memorial Bridge, featuring a 60ft golden Lady Liberty and a viewing deck. The design, by Harrison Design, has been submitted to the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) for approval. The exact cost of the project is still being calculated, but it is expected to be funded by a combination of public and private funds.
On Friday, the Trump administration unveiled new renderings for a proposed triumphal arch, titled “Arc de Trump”, located at Arlington Memorial Bridge’s Memorial Circle.
The 250ft tall monument, as a part of Trump’s legacy, showcases a 60ft golden Lady Liberty and a viewing deck. “One Nation Under God” would be inscribed on top, according to Harrison Design’s latest plans. The design was proposed to the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), set to review it on 16 April.
After replacing all commissioners, Trump’s ballroom proposal was approved by the CFA but later halted by a federal judge, despite the demolition of the historic East Wing.
The National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) also approved the project, but the status remains uncertain after the district court ruling. The arch, said spokesperson Davis Ingle, would be an iconic landmark in Washington DC and globally.
Positioned near Arlington National Cemetery, the arch is believed to honor American heroes’ sacrifices. The cost, according to an official, is being calculated and will be covered by public and private funds.
