The White House has provided a new portrait of President Donald Trump for display at the Colorado State Capitol. The previously displayed Trump portrait, criticised as “purposefully distorted” by the ex-president in March 2022, was replaced with a White House-endorsed image.

“We’ve decided to temporarily display the donated White House portrait,” said Colorado State Sen. Lois Court, adding that the “presidential portraits” topic will be thoroughly discussed at the Committee’s September meeting.
The new portrait will be hung after framing, according to Council staff.
The original portrait commissioned by Colorado Senate Republicans was removed following Trump’s criticism made via Truth Social, his social network. Trump compared his “distorted” portrait with the “wonderful” portrayal of Barack Obama, also hanging in the Capitol.

Sarah Boardman, the artist behind the original Trump portrait, defended her work, denying any intentional distortion or political bias. Boardman stated that Trump’s criticism negatively impacted her business.
