Senator Joe Manchin Pledges Infrastructure Legislation Reform to Energy Executives

At the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston, Senator Joe Manchin has assured energy industry leaders that infrastructure permitting reform is imminent. The reform is currently the senate energy committee’s main issue.

“We are tirelessly working to get permitting reform passed,” Manchin stated during his address. He also highlighted the future impact of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)’s energy provisions, on which he spent three years working.

Manchin expressed his belief that the IRA, which supplied $369 billion in tax credits and incentives for clean energy, will have a significant and lasting impact. “The IRA will be the most transformative bill the country, perhaps the world, has ever seen,” he said, adding that its greatest achievement will be sparking innovation for future reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Also addressing the assembly was U.S. Senator Daniel Sullivan from Alaska, a state known for its energy and mining industries. He stressed the necessity for the nation to develop a policy concerning critical minerals.
