Minnesotans to Participate in D.C. Climate Advocacy Day

About 20 Minnesotans Join the Annual Citizens’ Climate Lobby Day

On Tuesday, July 22, approximately 20 Minnesotans are anticipated to participate in the Citizens’ Climate Lobby annual Lobby Day in Washington, D.C., joining global advocates to demand federal climate action.

Participants will have meetings with Congress members, including offices of Democratic U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, as well as several Democratic U.S. representatives from Minnesota, like Rep. Kelly Morrison of the 3rd District, encompassing Eden Prairie.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a bipartisan, nonprofit that mobilizes grassroots volunteers to advocate for legislation that addresses climate change. They have consistently supported clean energy policies and endorsed efforts to maintain incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Despite political hurdles, the organization sees ongoing momentum for renewable energy solutions such as geothermal and nuclear energy. A Yale Program on Climate Change Communication poll conducted in December 2024 revealed 63 percent of Americans think expanding clean energy should be a top priority for federal leaders.

The Citizens’ Climate Lobby has chapters nationwide, including an active group in the southwest suburbs of Minnesota.
