Connecticut Sees Record Enrollment in Health and Dental Insurance Plans
Health and dental insurance plans have experienced record enrollment in Connecticut, according to Access Health CT, the state’s official health insurance marketplace. The 2026 Open Enrollment Period has seen a total of 157,246 people enrolled, a 4% increase from the 2025 enrollment period.
Covered CT Program Sees Increased Registration
Also notable is the increase in residents enrolled in the Covered CT Program, with 51,629 enrollees compared to last year’s 41,165.
More Residents Opt for Dental Coverage
In addition, dental coverage through AHCT has seen a 9% increase in enrollment over the last year, reaching a total of 19,416 residents now insured.
Changes in State and Federal Levels
The open enrollment period was affected by changes on state and federal levels, including the expiration of the American Rescue Plan Act and the Inflation Reduction Act. These changes led to a decrease in Marketplace enrollment across the country. Despite these challenges, Connecticut has seen an increase in enrollment.
Increased Outreach and Assistance
In order to reach these record-breaking numbers, AHCT has increased its outreach during the open enrollment period. The organization expanded its Navigator program, added four new mobile enrollment specialists to its Health Equity and Outreach team, and hosted dozens of enrollment events throughout the state.
Special Enrollment Period Now Available
As of February 1, Access Health CT is offering a Special Enrollment Period for qualifying customers.
Access Health CT Chief Executive Officer James Michel stated, “Another record-breaking enrollment year shows that Connecticut residents are prioritizing their health and the peace of mind coverage provides. Having coverage means access to preventive care, prescriptions and protection from unexpected medical costs.”
