Kyle Sherwood’s Family Speaks Out After His Death in Los Angeles
The family of Kyle Sherwood, a 28-year-old single father found dead at MacArthur Park Lake in Los Angeles, are sharing their grief following the arrest of two suspects linked to his death.
Sherwood’s body was found floating in the lake early Wednesday morning and was declared dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department medical personnel.
Later that day, Los Angeles Police Department homicide detectives disclosed that city cameras in the park had captured the moment when two suspects pushed Sherwood, who was alive at that time, into the lake.
By Thursday, the two suspects were in custody, although their identities have not been released.
Sherwood, a former state wrestling champion and sheet metal worker, was a devoted single father to his 6-year-old son. His family revealed he had been battling mental health issues and a fentanyl addiction. He moved to Los Angeles in May to join a program at the Dream Center to overcome his addiction.
His sister, Heather Knaack, shared how Sherwood had positive feelings about the program. Unfortunately, he went missing two days after joining.
The family, who are based in Washington state, had no contact with Sherwood for weeks and received no response from Los Angeles police. The Dream Center attempted to file a missing persons report but were turned away as Sherwood was an adult.
They only learned of Sherwood’s whereabouts when an unidentified caller warned them about MacArthur Park’s danger. Witnesses later informed them of a fight in the park that involved Sherwood.
Although the motive behind the suspected homicide remains unclear, the police are treating Sherwood’s death as a potential homicide.
