Nine certified and 14 enroll in Beaufort Memorial’s workforce development program
The Beaufort Memorial PATH (People Achieving Their Highest) program celebrated the graduation of eight participants from its 10th cohort on Aug. 20. In addition to honoring the newly certified graduates in their respective fields, 14 Beaufort Memorial employees were welcomed into the program, embarking on new career pathways.
The latest cohort included graduates trained as Clinical Medical Assistants (2), Patient Care Technicians (1), and Coders (5). Beaufort Memorial President and CEO Russell Baxley underscored that the PATH program represents an “investment” in the workforce, emphasizing the importance of human resources in healthcare service delivery.
Each of the graduates from the coding class successfully passed the certification exam on their first attempt and took the opportunity to surprise their instructor, Kimberly Richbourg, with flowers and a plaque to commemorate their shared experience.
Among the honorees were Clinical Medical Assistants Tonya Coaxum and Edwina Register, and coders Krystal Brown, Sarah Europe, Cassandra LaFontaine, Arianna Morris, and Diane Singleton.
Additionally, the event marked the ceremonial pinning of newly certified graduates in the Clinical Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Certified Professional Coder, and Central Sterile Technician tracks.
The certified graduates included Alani Crawford (CPCT), Tamara Thompson-Graham (CPCT), Dashaunna Montford (CRCST), and the aforementioned coders who earned the CPC title.
The graduation ceremony also saw 14 Beaufort Memorial team members sign on for the 11th cohort of the PATH program. They will join tracks such as the Surgical Technician and Endoscopy Technician. Since its inception in 2022, the PATH program has produced 104 graduates.
The initiative offers scholarships, clinical training, traditional education, and non-traditional financial assistance to Beaufort Memorial staff aiming to advance their careers, thus bolstering the healthcare network in the Lowcountry.
Beaufort Memorial’s Director of Education and Workforce Development, Joy Solomon, expressed pride in the program’s success and its role in facilitating career enhancement opportunities for employees. Prospective participants can find more information on BeaufortMemorial.org/PATH.
