Boost Skills with Christmas Basketball Camp Lessons

TL/DR –

Christopher Pearl, known as Coach Chris, organized the first-ever Coach Chris Christmas Camp at Grand Rapids Catholic Central, Michigan, where leading high school basketball players from West Michigan taught basketball and life skills to boy and girl attendees in fourth-to-eighth grade. The camp had a strong focus on teaching off-the-court life lessons, such as giving back to less fortunate communities, particularly during the holiday season. All of the proceeds from the sold-out camp were dedicated to adopting a family this holiday season.

Nearly 100 local children experienced a unique opportunity to participate in a basketball and life skills camp

On Saturday, around 100 kids participated in the first-ever Coach Chris Christmas Camp at Grand Rapids Catholic Central. The camp, directed by Christopher Pearl, also known as “Coach Chris,” provided a unique mix of basketball training and valuable life lessons.

The camp attendees ranged from fourth to eighth graders, and they had an opportunity to train with some of the top high school basketball players from West Michigan. “The sessions focus on basketball techniques, along with discussions about life goals. It’s about becoming not only better basketball players but also better individuals,” said Coach Chris.

The camp also emphasized the importance of giving back to the community, especially during the holiday season. Coach Chris spoke about his own experiences growing up without much and how rewarding it is to see the joy on the children’s faces when he can give back to them.

Apart from basketball lessons, the camp also distributed prizes, including Culver’s custard, gift cards, and Nike gear. One of the highlights was a pair of Kobe Reverse Grinch sneakers, a popular basketball shoe. The attendees expressed their excitement about the shoe, with one camper named London explaining the difference between the regular Grinch and Reverse Grinch to FOX 17.

Another camper, Asher, shared his appreciation for the opportunity to receive such cool shoes, emphasizing that not everyone can afford them. He thought it was really cool that the camp provided such opportunities.

The Coach Chris Christmas Camp was a hit, selling out within the first 90 minutes of being announced. All proceeds from the camp will be used to support a family during the holiday season.
