Suspect Xavier Tate, allegedly involved in the murder of Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca, is in custody in Glendale Heights, say authorities. Working with U.S. Marshals Service and other agencies, Chicago police confirmed the arrest.

Huesca’s family were informed of the arrest according to NBC Chicago’s Courtney Sisk. Court records indicate that 22-year-old Tate is accused of using a .40-caliber handgun to fatally shoot Huesca, found with multiple gunshot wounds near his Gage Park home on April 21.
Officer Huesca was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center and later pronounced dead after the shooting incident while he was returning home post shift in his uniform. His Toyota SUV was stolen after the shooting but later recovered.
Tate was due in court earlier last week on an unrelated matter but failed to appear. After the shooting, authorities had released images and a video of a person of interest. Later, Tate was identified as the individual in the footage.
Earlier, an associate of Xavier Tate’s, Caschous Tate, had been taken into custody in connection to the case. Prosecutors reported that during a house visit to discuss the case, Caschous Tate was observed throwing an item over the fence – Huesca’s gun with its serial number almost entirely scratched off.
Tate Jr. was identified in numerous surveillance videos from shops near Huesca’s Gage Park home. The FBI listed him on its most wanted list, describing his appearance and tattoos, and a $100,000 reward was offered for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
