The evening kickstarts at 5:15 with the Arbor Consort’s tree-lighting ceremony, followed by a musical promenade through the village dressed in period costume.
Santa’s First Visit to the Old Town Hall
Santa has set up his residence at the Old Town Hall beside the Charlie Brown tree for the first time since its construction in 1871. Kids can share their Christmas wishes with Santa and receive a delightful candy cane.
Old School Christmas at the Podunk Schoolhouse
At 5:30 and 6:30, children are welcomed to the Podunk one-room schoolhouse. Here, they’ll listen to a reading of the beloved American poem, “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, just as they would have in 1846 when the school was first built.
Experience Traditional Blacksmithing
Visit the Wheeler Blacksmith Shop to marvel at the art of blacksmithing. Blacksmith Shawn Spitza will stoke the old forge and demonstrate how tools and farm implements were crafted in the 1870s by Victor Jean Wheeler, the original Webster Township blacksmith.
Kleinschmidt General Store and Holiday Goodies
Pop into the Kleinschmidt General Store, filled to the brim with holiday specials, sweet cookies, and hot chocolate. If Jack Frost is getting a bit too nippy, enjoy your hot chocolate by a warm, crackling fire just outside the store.
