Fiona Duff has been named as the Interim Head of Primary Care by Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). She will oversee primary care health services, ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality healthcare services, including General Practice, Dentistry, Community Treatment Services, and Vaccinations. This senior leadership role will involve collaborating with healthcare professionals for optimal operational efficiency, improving patient-focused and preventative care, and managing primary care challenges.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Duff said, “I am privileged to be the interim Head of Primary Care and am eager to collaborate with all primary care services, maintaining the high standard of services provided to communities across Argyll and Bute.”

Duff’s career in General Practice began in 1990 as Practice Manager at Huntly Health Centre. She moved on to become the Fundholding Manager at Nairn and then returned to Practice Management at the Culloden Surgery in Inverness. Duff was the Primary Care Manager for NHS Highland North from 2001 to 2016, leading initiatives in Quality and Scottish Patient Safety and the North Highland GP Appraisal Programmes. From 2016 to 2024, she was a Senior Professional Management Advisor for the Scottish Government Primary Care Directorate. She has shown a strong focus on Rural General Practice and chaired the Scottish Dispensing Practice group, supporting Practice Managers and administrative staff.

Argyll and Bute Interim Chief Officer, Evan Beswick, welcomed Duff’s appointment, stating, “Fiona’s extensive management knowledge and professional experience will be invaluable in managing primary care services.”
