TL/DR –
Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance is visiting Arizona for the fourth time to campaign at TYR Tactical, a military gear manufacturer, two weeks before Election Day. Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are almost tied in Arizona, with most public polls giving Trump a slight lead. Trump, his son, and other surrogates have been visiting Arizona frequently, while Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, have also visited the state several times as Election Day approaches.
Republican VP Nominee JD Vance to Campaign in Arizona
Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance is set to return to Arizona for a fourth time to campaign at the military gear manufacturer TYR Tactical in Peoria. Vance will visit the state two weeks before Election Day on Nov. 5. Mail ballots began going out across Arizona last week, indicating that voting is already in progress in this southwestern battleground.
The visit will be Vance’s second trip to Arizona in the past fortnight. Vance will speak at TYR Tactical in Peoria at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The company, owned by Peoria Mayor Jason Beck, a Republican, has hosted visits from prominent Republicans, including then-Vice President Mike Pence.
Trump and Harris Neck-and-Neck in Arizona
Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are neck-and-neck in Arizona, with most public polls giving Trump a slight lead. President Joe Biden won Arizona by the narrowest margin of any state in 2020, and political experts anticipate the margin of victory to be razor-thin again this year.
“President Trump has a proven track record of standing up for Arizona families. From boosting economic growth to lowering energy costs to securing the border, Trump has consistently prioritized the needs of everyday Arizonans,” the Trump campaign said in a statement announcing Vance’s trip.
Increased Campaigning in Arizona
Vance is a familiar face on the Arizona campaign trail. He visited Tucson and Mesa less than two weeks ago and has campaigned around the Phoenix area and at the U.S.-Mexico border wall since he was named as Trump’s running mate in July.
Trump made his fourth visit to Arizona of the year for a rally in Prescott Valley on Sunday. The Trump campaign is increasing its surrogate visits to Arizona, too. Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., recently attended an early voting event hosted by conservative group Turning Point Action.
Democratic Candidates’ Visits to Arizona
On the other side of the aisle, Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, have also been to Arizona several times as Election Day approaches.
Harris held a rally last week in the Gila River Indian Community. Former President Barack Obama was the latest high-profile Harris backer to hit the trail here, holding a rally in Tucson on Friday.
