TL/DR –
First Lady Jill Biden told seniors in Green Bay that former President Donald Trump would cut Social Security and Medicare if he is reelected. The event was part of an initiative by President Joe Biden’s campaign to connect with seniors and contrast his policies with Trump’s. Jill Biden claimed that the Biden administration has led to lower prescription drug prices for seniors and helped more people get health insurance, while Trump has expressed support for “cutting” entitlements and ending Medicare as it currently exists.
First Lady Jill Biden’s Address to Green Bay Seniors
At a Brown County Library event, First Lady Jill Biden cautioned Green Bay seniors about the potential risk of Donald Trump cutting Social Security and Medicare if reelected. The gathering was part of an initiative to connect President Joe Biden‘s policies with seniors, contrasting them with Trump’s.
Jill Biden emphasized that her husband is committed to preserving Social Security, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act, while framing Trump as a threat to these programs. As per her, “Trump supported ending Medicare as we know it and was one vote away from repealing the Affordable Care Act, which would have raised drug prices significantly.”
The First Lady went on to highlight how the Biden administration’s efforts have resulted in lower prescription drug prices for seniors and extended health insurance coverage. She also noted Trump’s mention of “cutting” entitlements in a March interview, which his campaign later clarified referred to “cutting waste”.
During her Green Bay visit, Jill Biden addressed concerns about her husband’s age, asserting that the election is not about age but about the character of the leader. She also referred to Trump becoming the first former president to be a convicted felon and Hunter Biden‘s recent conviction for felony charges.
Wisconsin’s Republican Party representative, Matt Fisher, criticized the visit, stating that the Biden Administration’s policies have increased prices for groceries and healthcare. He conveyed confidence in restoring Republican leadership in November.
Jill Biden had last visited Green Bay in February to promote education policies. Her recent visit followed Donald Trump Jr.’s support rally for a congressional candidate endorsed by his father. Both President Biden and Trump made Wisconsin stops last month, with Trump set to visit Racine next week.
