The Entrepreneurship Center at Washtenaw Community College (WCC) will mark its 10th anniversary by extending the Pitch@WCC competition to a four-day event filled with free entrepreneurship activities, education, and networking opportunities. Start-Up Week will commence from May 6-9, with the Pitch competition scheduled for May 8-9.

New Competition Categories at Pitch@WCC

Director Michelle Julet revealed that this year’s Pitch competition will introduce new categories, including skilled trades, the arts, and returning citizens to better represent the diverse range of community entrepreneurs. Finalists of Pitch competition will gain automatic entry into the Start-Up Incubator, a platform offering educational and networking opportunities to emerging and current small business owners.

Supporting Community Entrepreneurs

Julet is enthusiastic about the Start-Up Incubator participant, Ypsilanti-based food truck The Corned Beef Queen being present during the competition. Continual support for entrepreneurs who launch their businesses from their program is a top priority of the center, as it fosters economic development within the community.

Start-Up Week: Networking, Mini-Workshops and More

Beyond the competition, Start-Up Week will include mini-workshops hosted by industry representatives from Chase Bank, Google, and SensCy, as well as networking opportunities. For the first time, a free theatrical storytelling performance will be held to stimulate discussions on entrepreneurship experiences. Advanced registration for workshops is recommended, and interested parties can register here. More information and the full event schedule can be found on the Entrepreneurship Center’s website.
