Kamala Harris in Seattle for Reelection Fundraising

Vice President Kamala Harris flew in to Seattle on Saturday for two speeches and fundraising events. The Vice President emphasized her and President Joe Biden’s differing stances on issues, such as health care, from former President Donald Trump.

Harris addressed a range of high-profile issues like abortion rights, the Affordable Care Act, and the economy, but refrained from mentioning Trump’s recent conviction in the Stormy Daniels hush-money case. Her second speech was interrupted twice by Gaza war protesters.

The Vice President’s Seattle visit began at Boeing Field where she was welcomed by local leaders. She then proceeded to a West Seattle residence on Genesee Hill for her first event.

Harris rallied her audience by asserting that the upcoming election is crucial and Biden’s campaign holds the momentum. She reassured supporters that despite any challenges, “we’re going to win and our country is worth fighting for.”

She pledged that Biden would oppose any potential national abortion ban from Congress and highlighted the administration’s efforts to cap insulin costs for older adults.

The second event was held at the Westin in downtown Seattle. Here, Harris repeated her points, lauding the Biden administration’s feats on economic development and new job creation.

Harris framed the upcoming election in stark terms, contrasting the Biden administration’s transformative work with the approach of the former president who she accused of praising dictators and weaponizing the Department of Justice against political enemies.

Harris’ Westin address was disrupted twice by Gaza war protesters, prompting her to affirm her commitment to ending the conflict as soon as possible. The protesters, later identified as members of Jewish Voice for Peace Seattle, were escorted out and briefly handcuffed by police.

Harris last visited Seattle in August, where she discussed the Biden administration’s climate and clean energy strategies and marked the anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act.
