A car-motorcycle collision injures three in Negaunee

A traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a car in Negaunee resulted in three injuries, including a child who received treatment at UPHS-Marquette.

The Negaunee police were alerted to the incident on U.S. 41 near the Dollar General store around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

The collision involved a motorcycle operated by a 38-year-old Marquette man and a Dodge Journey driven by a 36-year-old Ishpeming man.

The incident occurred when the Dodge Journey pulled in front of the eastbound motorcycle as it was turning into the parking lot of the Dollar General.

Following the accident, the motorcycle rider was taken to UPHS-Marquette for his injuries. A child passenger in the Dodge Journey, a 5-year-old girl from Ishpeming, was also transported to the same hospital.

The car’s driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. According to the police, the Dodge Journey’s driver was at fault for not yielding the right of way.

Negaunee police were assisted at the accident scene by the Negaunee Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Ishpeming Police Department, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, UPHS EMS, and Antilla’s Towing.
