Phoenix Pool Incident: 2 Boys Rescued, Hospitalized

Two Boys Rescued from Pool in West Phoenix Apartment Complex

Two boys, 6 and 8 years old, were recently hospitalized after being found in a pool at a west Phoenix apartment complex, according to the Phoenix Fire Department. The incident occurred near 40th Avenue and Camelback Road.

The Phoenix Police Department officers and firefighters arrived at the scene around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. The boys were conscious and showed no signs of distress. They were admitted to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.

Phoenix Fire Department also added that no one performed CPR on the children before their arrival. An investigation by the Phoenix Police Department into the incident is ongoing.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the leading cause of death in children aged 1-4, excluding birth defects. Further, three children die daily due to drowning. The CDC offers several tips to protect children around water:

Equipping children with life-saving skills like swimming and CPR, installing four-sided isolation fences around pools, ensuring children wear life jackets around bodies of water, and close supervision of children in or near water are some of the key measures for safety.
