This week, Santa and Mrs. Claus brought holiday cheer to the little patients at the University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. The couple visited the Brandon Newborn Intensive Care Unit, delivering gifts and posing for pictures with the parents and babies celebrating their first Christmas in the hospital.
The hospital’s young patients have had a meaningful holiday season, thanks to the efforts of local teen Harper Mathis. After being diagnosed with a rare brain cancer in 2020, Mathis, with assistance from the Ann Arbor Police Department, initiated a toy drive, bringing thousands of toys to the hospital’s patients. On December 11, a fleet from DTE, adorned with bright lights, stopped by the Ronald McDonald House adjacent to the hospital to spread additional cheer.
