Update on Scottsdale’s Boulder View Fire Evacuation Status

The Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management (MCDEM) has reduced the evacuation orders from ‘GO’ to ‘SET’ status in northeast Scottsdale, due to the Boulder View Fire. This change, announced around 5 p.m. Saturday, indicates that while significant danger still exists, it is not considered ‘imminent and life-threatening’ as per the ‘GO’ status, as mentioned on the Arizona Emergency Information Network’s site.

Previously, the ‘GO’ status was in effect for the region north of Dove Valley Road between 136th and 144th streets. The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (AZDFFM) urges returning residents to be aware of ongoing operations. The MCDEM also stated that all other regions will revert to ‘READY’ status, emphasizing the need for hazard awareness.

Boulder View Fire’s Danger Status

The AZDFFM reported on Saturday around 6:40 p.m. that the fire, which erupted on Thursday morning, has spread over 3,700 acres but was 19% contained. The main focus on Saturday was to enhance firelines and monitor excess heat within the blaze, prominently on its southeast side. Seven hand crews, six helicopters, 11 engines, and two water tenders were involved in these efforts.

Bartlett Dam Road at Cave Creek Road remains closed to the public. The presence of scattered showers forecasted for Sunday could aid in suppressing the fire and boost containment efforts by lowering temperatures and increasing moisture, according to a tweet.
