Teen Fatal Crash: 17-Year-Old Perishes in Ely Township Car Fire

Ely Township, Michigan Car Crash Claims the Life of a Teenager

In a tragic accident, a teenager lost her life in a car crash in Ely Township, Michigan, early Sunday morning. The accident occurred around 12:05 a.m. on County Road 482, near County Road CM. Troopers from the Negaunee Post arrived on the scene to find a white Ford SUV, which was off the road and on fire approximately 30 yards away.

The troopers, quickly attempting to extinguish the fire, discovered the SUV lying on its right side. The vehicle appeared to have crashed through several large trees before coming to rest. The 17-year-old local girl who was the sole occupant of the Ford SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is still being investigated. Assistance on the scene was provided by Ishpeming Township Fire, UPHS Bell, Rescue 131, and Marquette City Police. The NICE Community School District expressed its condolences via a post on its Facebook page.
