Rest Stops Provide Essential Respite and Supplies
The Lakenenland rest stop, located 40 miles into the race, provides a much-needed break from the elements. Volunteer Sports Dietitian, Dawn Lundin, explained that the stop offers participants a chance to refill water, warm-up, and consume hot food and beverages.
The rest stop also facilitates a wellbeing check for the competitors, ensuring they are in good spirits and well-equipped for the rest of the journey.
A Beacon of Hope in a Winter of Cancelled Events
Amidst a string of winter events cancellations throughout the Upper Peninsula, the Polar Roll Ultra offers a ray of hope. 906 Adventure Team Director, Todd Poquette, expressed his optimism, “For those events that can adapt and continue, we need to do that. That’s what we did.”
