Rocky Mountain Health Care Services’s Success and Contributions to Colorado Springs

Rocky Mountain Health Care Services consistently ranks as a top employer in Colorado Springs, securing top three finishes in the largest employers category in the past three years. The nonprofit’s high rankings include being the top extra-large employer in 2021, and the second-best workplace for employers with 300+ employees in 2020.

CEO Nathan Olson, along with Debbie Baum, the Director of People Experience, have been instrumental in the organization’s success. They have fostered a supportive environment with attractive benefits such as generous paid time off, training opportunities, holiday parties, bonuses, leadership development boot camps, service anniversary bonuses, and an employee recognition program known as Kudos.

Through Kudos, employees reward their peers for exceptional service. Points earned from recognition can be used for gift cards or donations to various nonprofits. This Facebook-like platform promotes the organization’s core values and motivates employees to go above and beyond their duties.

Contracted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, Rocky Mountain also operates the PACE (Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly) in the Colorado Springs area. The nonprofit offers a wide range of medical and social services to around 1,000 clients aged 55 and above who require nursing home care.

The organization’s 438 employees encompass several disciplines, including doctors, nurses, behavioral health specialists, therapists, social workers, dieticians, home health care coordinals, and transportation providers. These experts provide extensive care, from medical services to meals and transportation, at their adult day care center at 2502 E. Pikes Peak Ave.

With expansions in the pipeline, Rocky Mountain recently opened a second center in the Briargate area, and plans to inaugurate a third center near the Broadmoor World Arena. The company is also seeking approval to extend its services to Falcon.

Embracing technology, the organization provides tablet computers known as GrandPads to all clients for virtual doctor visits, email communication, and entertainment, at no additional cost.

Originally established in 1976 as Homemaker Services, Rocky Mountain Health Care Services has evolved over the years, offering an array of programs for brain care and long-term care assessment, and securing its first PACE contract in 2008.
