TL/DR –
Donald Trump has endorsed Abe Hamadeh, an unsuccessful 2022 candidate for Arizona attorney general, in the Republican race to replace Rep. Debbie Lesko in Congress. Hamadeh has previously claimed that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from Republicans and filed multiple lawsuits contesting his own defeat in a tight race. The Arizona Supreme Court has ordered Hamadeh to cover some of his opponents’ legal expenses due to misrepresented information to the court, and no evidence has been provided to suggest that the Arizona 2020 or 2022 elections were compromised by widespread fraud.
Trump Endorses Abe Hamadeh for Arizona Congress Race
Ex-President Donald Trump has backed Abe Hamadeh, the unsuccessful 2022 contender for Arizona attorney general, for the Republican nomination to replace Rep. Debbie Lesko who is retiring.
“Abe Hamadeh champions the Border, Military/Vets, Tax Cuts, Election Integrity, and our Second Amendment,” Trump posted on social media. “He understands that our freedom, once lost, may never return.”
Trump had previously supported Hamadeh in his attorney general campaign.
Hamadeh, who has echoed Trump’s unfounded assertion that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from Republicans, has lodged multiple suits challenging his narrow defeat to Democrat Kris Mayes in the Attorney General race.
In August, Hamadeh was ordered by the Arizona Supreme Court to pay some of his opponents’ legal fees for misleading the court. There has been no credible evidence of widespread fraud affecting the results of the 2020 or 2022 Arizona elections.
Interestingly, Trump has endorsed Hamadeh over Blake Masters, another Trump-supporting candidate and venture capitalist who worked with billionaire Peter Thiel. Trump previously backed Masters in his 2022 Senate bid.
Other Contenders in the Race
Additional candidates include Arizona House Speaker Ben Toma, who Lesko has endorsed, and former U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, who resigned from the seat amid controversy in 2017.
Kari Lake, another Republican candidate denying the election results who is running for the U.S. Senate, applauded Hamadeh on receiving the endorsement.
“I’ve been fighting with @AbrahamHamadeh in Arizona for 2 years & I eagerly look forward to our continued fight in DC,” Lake posted on social media.
