U.P. Labor Unions Organize Trunk-or-Treat Halloween Event

In Marquette, Michigan, U.P labor unions exhibited Halloween spirit by hosting a Trunk-or-Treat event for the community. The event, a collaboration between the Marquette/Alger Central Labor Council, USW 4950, and USW 4974, saw families in their spookiest outfits collecting candies despite the gloomy weather conditions.

The organizers expressed satisfaction with the turnout and saw the event as an excellent opportunity for community members to meet and interact with the union members. “These are our local labor affiliates and they make up an important part of the community,” said Rich Helgren, the Marquette-Alger Community Labor Council chairperson. “They could be your friends, neighbors, or family, and this is a chance to see who we are beyond our work.”

The Trunk-or-Treat event marked the first time these labor unions joined forces to celebrate Halloween with their community. Organizers hinted at the possibility of more events in the future, encouraging residents to either prepare a trick or expect a treat.
