Wrentham Police Chief Advises Against Black Friday Shopping at Wrentham Outlets Due to Long Waits
Wrentham, Massachusetts’ police chief, Bill McGrath, issues a warning about the anticipated over three-hour wait times at the Wrentham Outlets on Black Friday afternoon. Shoppers are being urged to reconsider their plans to avoid the overwhelming traffic.
In a recent post on X, formerly Twitter, McGrath said, “STOP. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO DRIVE TO THE #WRENTHAMOUTLETS, DO NOT BOTHER. THEY WILL BE CLOSED BEFORE YOU CAN GET THROUGH TRAFFIC. WAITS EXCEED THREE HOURS. 495 AND SURROUNDING ROADS ARE JAMMED. TRY ANOTHER DAY.”
The outlets close at 9 p.m. on Friday, and McGrath has continually warned of the extended delays expected throughout the day.
WJAR reported about hour-long traffic backups earlier on Friday. McGrath stated that the traffic situation is “definitely” worse than the previous year.
McGrath also expressed surprise at the lack of road rage incidents and crashes considering the traffic situation. He added that some local streets had been blocked off by the police as a measure to prevent motorists from driving through neighborhoods.
