Exciting and Free Summer Activities in Downtown Akron

Get excited for an active summer in the heart of Akron as Downtown Akron Partnership announces the schedule for Summer Downtown. Get ready for a season filled with free activities, including wellness programs, themed roller skating nights, lunchtime concerts, walking tours, and a lot more.

Outdoor Wellness Classes at the Plaza

If you are thinking about bringing your workout sessions outdoors, then the Wellness on the Plaza classes are definitely for you. This year, Downtown Akron Partnership is once again offering a variety of classes such as yoga, kickboxing, functional fitness, and even line dancing and Pilates. And for yoga enthusiasts, outdoor yoga classes will be offered monthly in the Northside District.

Family-friendly Roller Skate Nights

Bring your family and get ready for a fun night at the plaza with our roller skate nights. Each evening will be based on a unique theme (K-Pop skate, anyone?) and will feature music, yard games, and refreshments. You can bring your own skates or rent a pair for only $2.

Sign up for a Summer Cornhole League

Looking for some friendly competition under the sun? Join the summer cornhole league. In partnership with Summit Sports and Social, Downtown Akron Partnership will offer two five-week sessions starting May 27. And don’t worry if you don’t have a partner. Interested participants can register as two-person teams or as free agents.

Midday on Main Concerts

Back on the list this year are the Midday on Main concerts. Get ready for lunchtime performances from local talents including Anna Beau, Matt Zukes, Shelby Olive, Rachel Roberts, and Scott Sopata. These concerts will be held either at the Frances and Richard Buchholzer Balcony at Lock 3 or in front of Cascade Plaza.

Create at Cascade: A New Crafting Series
