“I’m currently running for Congress, but I haven’t dismissed the possibility of a higher office,” she said on ABC’s “This Week”, humbly acknowledging the significant public support she has received.
The question of whether she would consider challenging Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) in 2028 was also met with an open response. “At this point, anything is possible,” she commented.
Ocasio-Cortez, 36, has been a strong national political influence, endorsing progressive candidates who have successfully beaten more traditional, better-funded candidates.
Mostly recently, her endorsed candidate Abdul El-Sayed won the Democratic primary for Senate in Michigan despite a well-funded opposition.
