Sen. Thom Tillis Criticizes DHS Leadership, Repeats Call for Noem’s Resignation

Thom Tillis, R-N.C., intensifying his demands for the resignation of Secretary Kristi Noem, criticized her leadership of DHS. Tillis highlighted a letter from the inspector general’s office citing ten instances under Noem’s leadership where they were misled and impeded from pursuing vital investigations.

“The magnitude of stonewalling from this agency is alarming,” Tillis said, attributing it to a failure of leadership. Tillis asked if Noem failed to address concerns over her DHS oversight, he would stall Senate’s ‘en bloc’ confirmations.

To further pressure Noem, Tillis threatened to obstruct committee proceedings. “In two weeks, if no response is received, I’ll deny quorum and markup in as many committees as I can,” he said.
