Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) has lauded the Trump Administration’s announcement of a $93.3 million investment to Georgia for strengthening rural hospitals and advancing health outcomes under the federal Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP).
The investment, made possible by the Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), saw Rep. Clyde’s support and unanimous Democrat opposition. The OBBBA led to a historic $50 billion investment, the Rural Health Transformation Program, to aid states in modernizing rural health.
“I’m deeply thankful for the administration’s commitment to invest in and ultimately improve rural healthcare,” said Clyde. He emphasized the tremendous impact the investment will have in Georgia, including in the rural communities across the Ninth District.

The announcement is part of the larger overall funding awarded to Georgia for Fiscal Year 2026, thus completing Georgia’s initial Year 1 award cycle.
Projects supported by this funding involve:
- Preparing rural hospitals for value-based care with pre-implementation funding for 87 rural hospitals to participate in CMS’ AHEAD Model.
- Strengthening the rural healthcare workforce by expanding education and training opportunities for healthcare professionals and implementing new approaches to recruitment and retention.
- Expanding access and strengthening the continuum of care through investment in telehealth access points, maternal and behavioral healthcare, newborn screening, transportation, and other services.
- Modernizing rural healthcare through technology and innovation by funding technology-enabled care and infrastructure, including rural hospital cybersecurity, telehealth capacity, surgical robotics, and other tools.
