Public Invited to Grand Reopening of East Ridge Community Center
Mark your calendars! The grand reopening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the East Ridge Community Center are scheduled for Saturday, August 22. We invite the public to join us from 11:00am for the ribbon-cutting and then tour the newly renovated facility until 4:00pm.
Family-Friendly Activities and More
The city of East Ridge will host various family-friendly activities in the Community Center throughout the day. Plus, don’t miss the light lunch served while supplies last.
Renovations Funded by Local Parks and Recreation Grant
These major renovations were made feasible by the Local Parks and Recreation grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. The grant, awarded to the City in 2023, provided $660,000, contributing to total renovations costs of $2.6 million.
Notable Upgrades and Improvements
City officials highlighted the most significant upgrade – the expansion of the Community Center Gym. The gym has been stretched by 40 feet to accommodate a regulation basketball court, two half-court playing areas, or three pickleball courts. The gym has also received new flooring, an upgraded HVAC system, new goal systems, and refurbished bleachers.

Officials from East Ridge also share that renovations to the concessions and welcome desk are expected to wrap up by this fall.
More Than Just a Renovation
These renovations allow East Ridge Community Center to become a central hub for youth development, senior programming, community events, health and wellness initiatives, and expanded recreational opportunities.
East Ridge Mayor Brian Williams commented on the renovation, “It’s about more than new floors, fresh paint, upgrades, or an expanded gym. It’s about investing in our people and creating opportunities for our community to come together. We’re excited to reopen a facility that mirrors the growth and momentum of our city, and we eagerly await welcoming residents back to enjoy everything it has to offer.”
