Kristi Noem Implies Biden’s Dog Should Have Also Been Euthanized

TL/DR –

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has expressed that President Biden’s dog, Commander, should have been euthanized after several biting incidents. Commander was moved from the White House last fall after reportedly biting 24 Secret Service agents, some of which required medical attention. This comes after criticism of Noem for killing her own dog, Cricket, which she described as “untrainable” and “dangerous,” and references in her upcoming memoir, “No Going Back.”

South Dakota Governor Criticizes Biden’s Dog’s Aggressive Behavior

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem recently criticized Commander, President Biden’s German Shepherd, who has been notorious for his aggressive behavior. Her criticism, aired on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” comes following her controversial decision to euthanize her family’s aggressive dog.

Noem voiced that Commander, who has allegedly attacked 24 Secret Service agents, should have been put down. “Joe Biden’s dog has attacked 24 Secret Service people. So how many people is enough to be attacked before you make a decision on a dog?” she questioned.

Commander was relocated after the Secret Service logged 24 biting episodes between October 2022 and July 2023, half of which needed medical intervention.

Noem’s Controversial Decision and Memoir

Noem’s stance emerged amid the promotion for her upcoming memoir, “No Going Back,” where she discusses shooting her dangerous and “untrainable” dog, Cricket. She defended this decision during the CBS interview, claiming it was to “protect people.”

Within her memoir, the governor also hinted that a dog that bites, like Commander, is dangerous and unpredictable, especially in an environment with frequent human interaction. She used her decision of handling Cricket as an example.

The White House is yet to respond to Gov. Noem’s comments. In her book, she imagines becoming president in 2025 and jests, “Commander, say hello to Cricket for me.”
