On Sunday evening, eleven bars participated in the second Cocktail Competition at the Landmark Inn, Marquette. The competition featured two categories: Wheatley’s Vodka and 1792 Bourbon.
Attendees were invited to taste a one-ounce sample of each cocktail and vote for their top pick. The winning participants were awarded a complimentary overnight stay at the hotel and gift certificates. All competitors also received jiggers and liquor mats.
The event, according to Landmark Inn, was all about fostering community in the hospitality sector. Catering manager Heather Desjardins stated, “We’re not just competing; we’re collaborating as friends to enhance Marquette’s reputation in the food and beverage industry.”
Desjardins further expressed the hotel’s intentions to expand next year’s competition into a two-day affair, with the prospect of including the entire Upper Peninsula.
