Saturday: Northern California Impact Day Due to Wet Weather
Wet weather disrupted outdoor events and travel in Northern California, creating what KCRA 3 named an Impact Day. Rain showers were heaviest in the morning, with the foothills experiencing the most rainfall. The mountains and valley have received less rain, with some regions recording nearly an inch as of 8 p.m.
Low Snowfall and Thunderstorm Possibility
Saturday morning’s snow levels might have dropped to 4,000 feet, though lower elevations saw little to no accumulation. Higher elevations, particularly Sierra passes, could see 3 to 6 inches of snow throughout the day. Isolated thunderstorms were expected but did not occur. Lingering showers may persist into Sunday, though less than Saturday.
Residents React to Unexpected Spring Snowfall
Pollock Pines residents, accustomed to such weather, expressed surprise at the winter-like conditions during spring. Lee Hall lamented the continual snowfall, hoping for warmer weather soon. Conversely, local Kerryann Combs found the snow ‘beautiful and refreshing’.
