Marie Urich has been delighting residents with her extraordinary Christmas decorations in Lewisberry, York County for over fifty years.
“It started when my sister and I were little. She would decorate, but not in this large of a scale,” Urich’s daughter, Caroline Garner, reminisces about the popular holiday display at 235 Krone Rd.
The tradition of Christmas decorating continues, with Caroline and her husband, Ken, who live next door, helping her mother.
“It grew over the years and just got out of control,” Ken Garner said, reflecting on the expansive home holiday decorations.
The festive decorations have not only taken over the yards of both homes but are also displayed throughout Urich’s house.
Urich’s favorite are the snowmen, which she proudly showcases in her den. Visitors lucky enough to stop by and see the lights can catch a glimpse of them from the window.
A path leads to backyard displays bursting with everything from reindeers and Santas to Christmas trees and snowmen.
The admission fee to this magical Christmas display is a donation to the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, a cause close to the family’s heart.
“My husband’s father was in the Army. My dad was in the Navy, and we thought it would be a good way to give back to the community,” Caroline Garner said.
Visitors can enjoy the Lewisberry Christmas display Wednesdays through Sundays from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Donations for the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors can be made via cash or checks, dropped in a box provided at the site.
