Poll: Voters unfamiliar with Biden’s domestic spending plans

24

TL/DR –

A recent Politico-Morning Consult poll found that many voters are unfamiliar with President Biden’s major domestic spending initiatives, including the American Rescue Plan, the bipartisan infrastructure law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act. The poll found that 34% of voters knew nothing at all about the American Rescue Plan, 30% about the infrastructure law, 44% about the CHIPS and Science Act, and 24% about the Inflation Reduction Act. Only a slim majority said they were well informed about these laws.

Unfamiliarity with Biden’s Key Legislation, New Poll Reveals

A recent public survey indicates a lack of familiarity among voters with President Biden’s key domestic spending legislation passed during his tenure. This raises questions about his administration’s ability to communicate its significant legislative accomplishments.

The Politico-Morning Consult poll inquired about four major domestic policy laws, including the 2021 American Rescue Plan, 2021 bipartisan infrastructure law, the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act, and the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.

Results show 34% of respondents had heard nothing about the American Rescue Plan, 30% for the Infrastructure law, 44% for the CHIPS and Science Act, and 24% for the Inflation Reduction Act. Conversely, only a small portion reported extensive knowledge about these laws – 11% for the American Rescue Plan, 14% for the Infrastructure law, 9% for the CHIPS and Science Act, and 17% for the Inflation Reduction Act.

This unknown information could impact Biden’s success in the upcoming election, where he’s currently neck and neck with ex-President Trump, according to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s latest poll averages.

The Politico-Morning Consult poll surveyed 1,974 registered voters on April 27-28 and has a 2 percentage point margin of error.
