The Final 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has been unveiled, awaiting approval in the coming month. This blueprint is not project-specific but rather outlines the state’s highway system investment priorities over the next quarter-century.

The plan will be presented for approval at the State Transportation Board’s meeting in Yuma on October 20. It prioritizes maintenance of existing infrastructure and highway projects that cater to growth and improvements in rural areas, as suggested by nearly 10,000 Arizonians through surveys and public meetings.

According to the plan, the transportation revenues between 2026 and 2050 are projected to be $69 billion. This includes state, federal, and regional funds, with contributions from the new federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The plan also anticipates transportation needs totaling $231 billion over this 25-year period.

Updated every five years with public input, the plan is available for review at www.adot2050plan.com.
