Michigan Child Welfare Agency Expands Youth Psychiatric Services

Michigan’s renowned child welfare organization, D.A. Blodgett-St. John’s (DABSJ), is broadening its youth psychiatric services to cater to the public. Previously providing on-site medical support for its young beneficiaries and campus residents, the agency will now offer services such as evaluation and medication management to all children under 18.

Referrals for these services can be self-initiated or through a doctor or mental health provider, as stated in a DABSJ press release. These offerings will be available at DABSJ’s new facility located on Dean Lake Avenue in Grand Rapids.

The DABSJ initiative seeks to address the pressing need for accessible and encompassing psychiatric care for Michigan’s young population. The expansion is expected to contribute significantly to the community by ensuring children’s access to prompt and comprehensive mental health care. This also aims to positively impact parents, siblings, friends, and classmates of the young beneficiaries due to the ripple effect of improved mental health.

Various insurance providers, including Blue Care Network, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Priority Health, ASR, United Healthcare, and Aetna are accepted at DABSJ. For more details about the services, visit DABSJ’s website. Queries can be emailed to psychservices@dabsj.org.
